Christine Purser Almond

Obituary: Christine Purser Almond, 96, of Concord passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Five Oaks Manor following an illness of one month. Christine was born July 29, 1920 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Silas Lester and Luda Long Purser. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Almond, five brothers; Lee, Hoyt, Haron, Flynn and Cyrus Purser, and four sisters; Annie Mae Thomas, Ruth Cooper, Margie Simpson, and Fleauo McManus. She was employed at Cannon Mills Plant #1, sheet department for thirty-three years, and later was a hairdresser. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kannapolis. She had worked in the Temple in Washington, D.C. for eighteen months. Survivors include one son, Ronald Almond of Kannapolis, granddaughter, Lee Ann Almond of Kannapolis, one sister, Cleo McManus of Pensacola, Fl. She is also survived by nine nieces and thirteen nephews. Funeral services will be1:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted by William Hamby. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of the son. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Five Oaks Manor for their love and care to Mrs. Almond during her illness. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, 1601 Cooper Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
