Christopher Jay Mcwhorter

Christopher Jay McWhorter, 62, of Kannapolis, gained his wings on Monday, April 3, 2023 with his wife and son holding his hand, at Carolinas Continue Care Hospital.
He was born February 18, 1961, in Concord to the late Thomas Alexander and Shelby Jean Deal McWhorter.
Chris graduated from A.L. Brown in 1979 and graduated from Rowan Tech in Electrical Engineering. He worked at IBM, Concord Mills, Supply One, City of Kannapolis, Custom Plastics, and Gofher Utilities. In his spare time, he enjoyed building rail buggies, fishing both salt and fresh water, hunting big game and birds, also just taking the boat out to relax with family, he loved spending time with his only son and wife.
Those left to cherish his memory; his wife of 35 years Myrtie Spry McWhorter, and son Thomas Wriston McWhorter.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Scott Wheeler burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday April 5, at Whitley's Funeral Home.
