Obituary: - Clarence Gordon Harris, Sr., age 85, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord, NC after six months of declining health.He was born December 24, 1925 in Island Grove, Florida, the son of the late Arthur Clarence Harris and Susie Connor Harris.Clarence was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt. #1 #6 Weave Room and the Swink Plt. for a total 55 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Clarence enjoyed gardening and could fix anything mechanical. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mildred Teague Harris, who died in 1997; and a brother, Randall Harris of Smithfield, NC The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. James Pauley. Burial will follow at Carolina memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Reaves of China Grove, NC; a sister-in-law, Anna Harris of Smithfield, NC; two daughters, Mildred Patricia Marlowe & husband, Tyrone Wayne Marlowe and Phyllis Harris Berryman & husband, William Terry Berryman, both of Kannapolis, NC; his son, C. Gordon Harris, Jr. & wife, Jane Shanklin Harris of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Tyrone Marlowe, Jerry Marlowe, Joy Marlowe, Kip Marlowe, Shane Berryman, Chrissie Berryman, Chad Berryman, Clarence Gordon (Cole) Harris, III, Madeleine Harris, John Harris, and James Harris; great-grandchildren, Kammie Marlowe, Jeremy Marlowe, Megan Marlowe, Karana Marlowe, Bethany Jones, and Troy Jones, Kameron and Adian Marlowe, Dakota Berryman and Caleb Berryman; and a great-great-grandchild, Rylan Marlowe; and a number of nieces & nephews.
