Claude Brown Cotton Deal

Obituary: Concord, NC- Claude Brown (Cotton) Deal, age 81, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. He was born December 24, 1929 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Harvey McNary Deal and Lula Matilda Brown Deal. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Rockwell, NC. He was a seventh generation grandson of the late Michael Braun. He was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#1 #1 Weave Room for 24 years and later with Norandal Inc., Salisbury, NC and retired with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Cabarrus County Rescue Squad for over 20 years. His family fondly remembers his love of salt-water fishing, carpentry, travel, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Deal; and a sister, Mildred Deal Miller. The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Edith Ann Kluttz Deal; two sons, Mike Deal & wife, Jane of Lawrenceville, GA and Steve Deal & wife, Debbie of China Grove, NC; two grandsons, Jamey Deal & wife, Sandy of Granite Quarry, NC and Billy Deal & wife, Nikki of China Grove, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Kaylan, and Brantley; a brother, Marcus (Buck) Deal of Faith, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rowan Museum, Inc., % the Old Stone House Endowment Fund, 202 N. Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
