Obituary: Claude Junior Hough, 86, of China Grove, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his home. He was born February 7, 1928 in Mecklenburg Co., a son of the late Marion Claude and Maggie Vick Hough. Claude was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Weddington Hough, his children; Boyd Hough (Karen) of Salisbury, Gary Hough (Lori) of China Grove, Frances H. Clayton (David) of Pinehurst, and his six grandchildren; Jonathan, Jennifer, Nathan and Marian Hough and Austin and Evan Clayton. He is survived by two sisters; Atha Mae Hammill and Blanche Wyatt, both of Gold Hill, and his brother, Herbert Hough of Albemarle. In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Norman Hough and a sister, Evalyean Blackwelder. Claude worked in Cannon Mills, Plant #1 for 58 years until the day the mill closed. He received a "special" parking place and plaque for display after working 50 years in the mill. Claude was an active member of Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove. He loved to farm, garden, and take care of his animals. He enjoyed giving his home grown vegetables to friends and neighbors. He was a long time member of both the Rowan and the Cabarrus County Beekeepers. He was a Mason, a member of Eureka Lodge 283, China Grove and the Scottish Rites, Charlotte. Claude served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. Arrangements: Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis. The funeral will be on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Lutheran Chapel Church, China Grove. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
