Claude Anders Oxford, Jr., 78, of Midland, formerly of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. He was born December 25, 1941 in Burke County, the son of the late Claude Anders Oxford, Sr. and Ozelle Williams Oxford. In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Barrier Oxford and grandson Isaac.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 and a memorial service celebrating Claude’s life will follow shortly thereafter officiated by Rev. Scott Davis. Rev. Rickey Oxford will conduct graveside rites for the family Sunday the 31st at Burke Memorial Park, Morganton.
C.A. grew up in Morganton, NC and moved to Charlotte after getting married. He took an early retirement offer from his data processing job with Ford Motor Company to professionally pursue his photography hobby. Shortly after moving his family to the Concord area, he purchased Lawson Bonds photography studio and opened Oxford Studios in downtown Concord, which he and Barbara ran until their retirement.
He is survived by two sons, Claude A. (Chuck) Oxford, III and wife, Maria of Midland, Rev. Rickey S. Oxford and wife, Kimberly of Midland, 8 grandchildren, Marissa, Cailey, Adeodatus (Addy), Caleb, Samuel, Dominique (Nique), Rachel and Elijah James (E.J.) and a great grandchild, Carter James Gray.
