Claude Allen Staley

Obituary: Claude Allen Staley, 93, of Kannapolis, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at CMC-Northeast. He was born July 26, 1920 in Wilkes County, the son of the late Robert Feldon Staley and Effie Mae Myers Staley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Lee Medlin Staley on July 23, 1991. Claude retired from Cannon Mills where he worked in the #1 Weave Room. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps where he served as an MP during WW II. He was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where he was active in many church activities including former Sunday school teacher, deacon, usher, greeter, member of the Baptist Men, the Senior Group, as well as serving on various committees and boards throughout his lifetime. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guin. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior at Whitley's. He is survived by five children: Dwain Staley (Becky) of Farmville, Robert "Bob" Staley (Janice) of Clover, SC, Cynthia Richardson (Dan) of Traverse City, MI., Kenneth "Ken" Staley (Tracy) of Harrisburg, Eric Staley of Winston-Salem, five grandchildren: Britain, Laura, Yvonne, Marc and Nick, four great-grandchildren: Megan, Kaylee, Sean and Hunter and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: 1:00-2:00PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 28. 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
