Claudine Ruth Fowler, 99, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022 at the Brian Center.
Claudine was born October 25, 1922, in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late John Barbee and Ila Wise Barbee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Beulah Barger and Nell Collins.
Claudine graduated from J.W Cannon High school in 1938 and was named Miss Kannapolis in 1940. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School many years ago. Claudine was married over 50 years to her loving husband Jim Fowler. Jim worked for Cannon Mills, but also enjoyed farming and sold his produce in the surrounding areas for many years. He also had enough vegetables to keep her busy canning and freezing. She was a staunch supporter of her family in every aspect. Her favorite things were travel especially to the beach and the mountains. She also loved the "Friday Night Fish Club" for the fellowship with her best friends. In her early life she was employed by Cannon Mills in the office and also worked at the Jewel Shoppe as an accountant. Her passion was early childhood development and she embraced that as the Director of the Children's Center, a daycare established by the Kannapolis Junior Women's Club, for over 40 years retiring in her early 70's.
Those left to cherish her memory include, Her son, Jimmy Fowler and wife Ann; grandson, Matthew Fowler, granddaughter Stacie Fowler and great-grandson, Ryan Fowler.
All services and burial will be private.
