Clayton Junior Stegall

Obituary: Clayton Stegall, 83, of Charlotte, completed his journey on June 5, 2011, at Presbyterian's Harris Hospice Unit after a year-long illness.He was raised by his grandparents, the late John and Mattie Stegall. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Morrow Stegall; one son, James "Jim" Stegall and wife, Krista Tipton-Stegall of Stanley; two grandchildren, James Stegall, Jr., (Sabrina) of Dallas and Shelley Turner (Scotty) of China Grove and six great-grandchildren.He retired from Old Dominion Box Company and was a U. S. Navy veteran.A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC., with Pastor David Gales officiating.Special thanks go out to his son, Jim, and wife, Krista, for taking such special care of "Pops" during his illness.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harris Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC, 28204.Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis is in charge of the arrangements.Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
