Obituary: Clyde Irdell Dunlap Jr. , 89 of Thomasville, formerly of Kannapolis passed away Thursday at Piedmont Crossing. Born September 16, 1925 in Waxhaw, he is a son of the late Clyde Irdell Dunlap, Sr. and Alice McGuirt Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon Inc. after 50 years of service. He attended First Wesleyan Church and served in the United States Navy, Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and UNC-CH fan. His hobbies included gardening and carpentry. Mr. Dunlap is survived by his wife of 66 years, Zephia Walker Dunlap; a daughter Teresa Dunlap Griffin and husband George of High Point; and grandson Brian Griffin of Chapel Hill. He is also survived by three sisters, Agnes (Mollie) Furr, Geraldine (Dean) Gray, Betty Willis, and one brother Joe M. Dunlap. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by brothers, Winfield, Donald and Charles; sisters Margaret Howell, Gladys Griffin, Sue Hargett, Ruth Cress, and Billie McClain. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Piedmont Crossing for their competent and loving care of Mr. Dunlap during the time he resided there.
