Clyde Lester Gray

Obituary: Kannapolis, N. C. - Clyde Lester Gray, 73 died June 10, 2012 in the home he was born in on November 28, 1938. He was the son of the late Robert Lester Gray and Lethia Stirewalt Gray. Clyde was educated in the Kannapolis City School System; proudly served his country in the United States Navy; was a graduate from Southern Biscayne College earning an associate's degree in Business Management; was employed by Cannon Mills for 37 years and later retired early from Fluor Corporation due to health problems. He was a member of the Bullock Sunday School Class at Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of First Evangelical Methodist Church since 1940. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl D. Gray and his sisters, Dollie G. Barringer, Fay G. Hyde and Lois G. Kenerley. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Faye Hunsucker Gray of the home; daughter - Nannette Gray Gulledge and husband Brooks; son - Lester Ray Gray and grandson - Cameron Gulledge; brothers - Gary W. Gray and wife Janet of Kannapolis, Robert Gray and wife Barbara of Fayetteville, Ga.; sister-in-law - Diane Gray of Washington; brother-in-laws Johnson Kenerley, Joe Hyde and Melvin Barringer of Kannapolis, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins by the dozens. There will be no memorial service or visitation at Mr. Gray's request. Friends may call on the respective family members at their homes. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitley's Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083 to help with Clyde's funeral expenses. Special thanks to Dr. John Tuttle and his staff; Dr. Dennis Redfern and staff at the Bill Hefner VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC; the staff at Cannon Pharmacy; Gentiva Home Health Care; Lincare and CMC Northeast PCCU for the special care each of you have provided for Clyde. This is not a time to be sad, for Clyde now lives in heaven. Thank all of you for your love and support. May God continue to bless each of you.
