Clyde M. Huntsman, 87, of Kannapolis, NC left his earthly body for his Heavenly home July 12, 2022. Clyde was a resident of the Virginia Veterans Care Center at the time of his passing.
Born April 28, 1935, to William and Pearl (Clapper)Huntsman in Bedford, PA, Clyde was the 8th of 9 children. Both of his parents, 7 of his siblings and his wife, George Anna (Cashman) Huntsman preceded him in death. Clyde is survived by his oldest brother, William Huntsman Jr, son, Gregory S. Huntsman (Raquel), daughter, Dana L. (Huntsman) Davidson (Gregg), grandchildren Dimitri (Sarah) Huntsman and Natasha Huntsman, Kearee Davidson and Justin Davidson (Nicolle), great grandchildren, Taron and Ivie Trent and several nieces and nephews.
Clyde graduated from Bedford High School in 1953. He worked his family farm and was an apprentice at the brickyard in Bedford with his father and older brother, Kenny. In 1957, Clyde joined the U.S. Army where he served 2 years at the Pentagon in the field of Cryptology. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1959, Clyde was employed by IBM as an Accountant where he worked until he retired in September 1990.
Once retired from IBM, Clyde chose to obtain his 4-year degree and graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in May 1993. He also attended the LUSLL online program and was awarded a degree in Theological Studies. While going to school, he also worked as a school bus driver for the city of Kannapolis (10 years) and provided accounting services for Carolina Comfort Heating and A/C.
Clyde owned and managed rental properties in Kannapolis for over 20 years. Helping people was something of great importance to him throughout his life. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and he lived his life trying to demonstrate Christ’s love to all those he met. He supported his local church, Christian radio, the church’s college program and other local ministries.
Additionally, he was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching and supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers, Maryland Terrapins, Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Pirates!
Funeral Services will be held at Whitley’s in Kannapolis, NC on Friday, July 22, 2022. The family will accept friends from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm with a military honors service immediately following. Interment will be private with the family. A Celebration of Life service will also be held at Lighthouse Bible Church in Vinton, VA in the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Lighthouse Christian Academy Scholarship Fund, 2500 E. Washington Avenue, Vinton, VA 24179.
