Clyde Edward Lingruen

Obituary: Clyde Edward Lingruen, age 92, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after five months of illness. He was born March 1, 1920 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, the son of the late Carl Lingruen and Sue Shepherd Lingruen. In earlier years Clyde lived in Olmsted Falls, Ohio for many years where he owned & operated a greenhouse. In later years after moving to N.C. about thirty years ago, he became manager of shipping & receiving at the former Concord Hosiery Mill, Concord, NC. Clyde was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. He and his wife had been active member of Kannapolis West A Street Church of God where he was active in Sunday School, the Young AT Heart senior citizens, and other phases of church activities. In his spare time he always enjoyed sports whether it was playing golf, bowling, or watching all sporting activities on television. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Sam Crisp and Rev. Barbara Watkins. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mae Rodgers Lingruen; a daughter, Gail A. Lapp of Medinaville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Deana Balley & husband, Dean of Grafton, OH. Memorials may be made to Kannapolis West A Street Church of God, 2211 West A Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
