Clyde Eugene Mullis

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Clyde Eugene Mullis, age 78, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis, NC after four months of declining health. He was born September 16, 1930 in Rowan County, the son of the late Edgar T. Mullis and Mary Petrea Mullis. He was employed with Package Product Company, Charlotte, NC after over 35 years of service until his retirement in 1994. He was also a former co-owner & operator of the former Kannapolis Exterminating Company when it was owned by the late F.B. Brewer. He was an active member of Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he had served on various committees as well as with the Cub & Boy Scouts. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Brewer Mullis who died March 16, 2000. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Dave Cash and Rev. J.R. Beaver. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Berryman & husband, Lanny of Kannapolis, NC; his son, Jeff C. Mullis & wife, Crystal of Kannapolis, NC; three granddaughters, Brandy Beaver & husband, J.R., Margot Carter & husband, Ray, and Madison Mullis; four great-grandchildren, Quinten & Makalie Beaver and Lana & Logan Carter; and two brothers, Junior Mullis of Summerville, SC and Curtis Mullis of Lexington, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, in care of Opportunity House, 108 Bethpage Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
