Obituary: Clyde E. Toler, 78, entered Heaven's gates escorted by his dear, sweet wife Marie on October 17, 2013. Clyde was born in Charleston, WV in 1935 to parents Kellis and Kathleen Toler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Kellis Jr., Kenneth, and sister Elizabeth Richardson. Survivors include sons Kellis and Michael of the home in Landis, daughters Tamera (George) Mercer of Paden City, WV, Stephanie (Kevin) Tice of Monroe, NC, grandchildren; Samantha Tice of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer (Tommy) Byrd of Monroe, NC, David Tice of Mineral Springs, NC, Jessica (Justin) Renegar of Paden City, WV, great-grandchildren; Aiden Troy Byrd of Monroe, NC and Zoie Elizabeth Renegar of Paden City, WV, brother James E. (Shirley) Toler of Charleston, WV, sister Betty (Clifford) Witt of Charleston, WV and sister-in-law Faye Toler of Montgomery, AL, along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Concord, NC and a member of the U.S. Army from 1953-1958 as a corporal 1st Class paratrooper. In 1955 he married the love of his life Marie Etta Goins, of which they were wed for 55 years until her death in 2010. He worked for Charleston Transit bus lines in West Virginia and later started his career as a driver at McLean Trucking, Coastal Tank Lines, Central Transport, Chemical Leman, and finally Montgomery Tank Lines when he retired in 1993 as Regional Vice President. The funeral service for Mr. Toler will take place at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at New Life Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Concord, NC with Pastor Lawson Whitson, Rev. David Franks, and Rev. Bobby Goldsburg conducting the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm, Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, NC. with full military honors.
