Constance "Connie" (Wensil) Ashburn

Constance “Connie” Wensil Ashburn, 77 years old of Concord, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2024, surrounded by her family. Connie was born on September 13, 1946, in Cabarrus County to the late Harold and Ethel McQueen Wensil.

Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was especially known as “Maw Maw Connie” to many kids that loved her for her nurturing sprit.  Connie retired as a dental technician after many years.  During her time off, she loved to spend time with her family, especially cooking and baking for them.

Connie was predeceased by her husband, Sammy Neal Ashburn in 2009.  On June 27, 2024, they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary.  She was also predeceased by her sister, Linda Seagraves; her brother-in-law, Bobby Seagraves; and her brother, Gene Wensil.  Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Neal G. Ashburn and his wife Sonya; her daughter, Amy Lou Yow; her grandchildren, Brittany Christy and her husband Dylan Weatherly, Nathan Yow, Constance "Kenzie" Yow, Shelby Ashburn, and Garrett Ashburn; her great grandchildren, Ella and Kol Weatherly; and her brother Jerry “Adam” Wensil; her special niece, Tami Specht and many additional nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6-8pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 12pm, in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Roger Bostic.  Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to specially thank Dr. Stephanie Ramsey with Northeast Pain Center and Jenna, her hospice nurse with, Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions in Connie’s memory to Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Ln, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
