Cora Burris Honbarger, 80, passed away Wednesday morning, April 14, 2021, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following a period of declining health, but death was unexpected.
Born in Rowan County on April 10, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Green Thomas Burris and Etta Mae Mabe Burris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 sisters, including her twin sister, Flora Honbarger, and 7 brothers.
Mrs. Honbarger had retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service from Parkdale Mills, where she was an overhauler in the spinning room. She loved all of her family, especially her grandchildren and her “grand dogs”. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Mrs. Honbarger will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Loving family members include her husband of 64 years, Carl Honbarger; her children, Alan Honbarger (Sandra) and Gene Honbarger (Sherry); her much loved grandchildren, Tresa Ciscel (Jason), Jordan Honbarger, Alex Honbarger (Jordan Whitley) and Joseph Plyler (Sydney); her great grandchildren, Beto Ciscel and Billy Plyler; her brothers, Herbert, Charlie and Larry Burris; nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 17th from 12:00-1:00 pm in the family life center of Concordia Lutheran Church. Funeral services to remember and give thanks for the life of Mrs. Honbarger will begin at 1:00 pm in the church, conducted by the Rev. Ken Reed, Pastor. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service.
