Council William "Ike" Goble, 79, of China Grove, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at his home.
He was born November 9, 1943, in Flint, MI, to the late Council William Goble Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bolick Goble.
Ike attended Boyden High School, proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp, and was a member of American Legion Post 185. He retired from Paul D. Campbell Distributers after 45 years and later worked at Pyrotek, Inc. in Salisbury. Ike loved old westerns, NASCAR racing, the Washington Redskins, listening to George Jones, fishing, and spending time at the beach with his wife and children. He had a wicked sense of humor and loved to make others laugh.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Kay Goble; two sons, Jeffrey Goble, Jonathan Goble (Lisa), daughter Misty Starnes (Christopher); four grandchildren, Jennifer Hunsucker, Dustin Fox, Carson Owensby, Alison Anderson; five great grandchildren; a sister, Judie Smith of Lexington; and sister in law, Julie McCarn.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 12 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military rites.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and St. Jude's.
