Obituary: Craven "Jack" Burris, 87, of 1013 East 11th Street, Kannapolis, NC died May 17, 2009 at his home. He was born August 24, 1921 in Anson County, the son of the late Albert C. Burris and Letha Burleyson Burris. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Marie Henderson Burris,in 1995, a daughter Bonnie B. Kearns, and a sister Jessie Johnson. He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers in 1981 after 26 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II. He attended Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday May 21, 2009 at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Marler Starnes and Rev. Raymond Ross. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at a son's home, Johnny Ray Burris 408 East 16th Street Kannapolis, NC. He is survived by 5 sons: Billy Ray Henderson of Love Valley, Jackie Burris of Hamlet, Johnny Ray Burris of Kannapolis, Frankie Lane Burris of Kannapolis, and Donnie Wayne Burris of Kannapolis, 2 daughters: Elaine Gee of Kannapolis and Diane Hager of Troutman, a brother Houston "Sonny"Burrisand 2 sisters Velva Fisher of China Grove and Pauline Wise of Kannapolis, 9 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
