Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Crowson Lee Pressley (C.L.), age 90, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ in the arms of his wife on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his home after suffering with a debilitating illness for 2 ½ years. He was born October 22, 1919 in Union County, NC, the son of the late Randolph Ware Pressley and Lou Viney Little Pressley. He was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Swink Plant, as a supervisor in the machine shop for 47 years until his retirement. Later, C.L. also worked for Gulledge Supply, Kannapolis, NC and Food Lion on Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC because he enjoyed working. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. and a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, NC since 1954. In earlier years C.L. enjoyed being affiliated with the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge # 695 and was a shriner with the Oasis Shrine Temple. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Pressley Schoaf. The funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Rick Hoffner and Rev. Patti Simpson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard followed by masonic rites by Allen-Graham Lodge # 695. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Travis Lillian Jordan Pressley; his daughter, Myra Alexander Womble of Charlotte, NC; His grandson, Thomas Joseph Alexander, Jr. & wife, Michelle; his great-grandchildren, Christopher Robert Alexander and Adrianna Abigail Alexander, all of Woodstock, GA; And three sisters, Maxine Purser of Charlotte, NC, Lou Nell Mullis of Mint Hill, NC, and Shirley Olin Simpson Jordan of Monroe, NC.
