Cullen “Pops” Junior Wilbanks, 66 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Tucker Hospice House. He had been in declining health for the past year.
Cullen was born May 16, 1954 in Oconee County, S.C. a son of the late Wibb and Margaret Louisa Jones Wilbanks. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Peggy Long and a son, Lee Wilbanks.
Cullen was of the Baptist Faith. Prior to his retirement he was employed at J.B. Hunt Trucking Company as a trailer technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He loved boat riding at High Rock Lake and his river park friends.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tom Dolinger. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
Family members surviving include his wife of 35 years, Peggy Walter Wilbanks of the home, one daughter, Cindy Wilbanks of Salisbury, five sons, Mark Livengood and wife Misty of Salisbury, Cullen Wilbanks, II of Salisbury, Donny Wilbanks and wife Shasta of Kannapolis, Tommy “T.J.” Wilbanks and wife Misty of Kannapolis and Tony Wilbanks also of Kannapolis. He is also survived by one sister, Nita Wilbanks of Salisbury, a brother Lynn Wilbanks of South Carolina and a special uncle, Buck Kenneth Jones. He has 17 grandchildren surviving.
