Obituary: Daisey Ruth Nash Boone, 85, of Debbie Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening Feb. 16, 2010, at CMC- Northeast, following a two week period of declining health. Mrs. Boone was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis, born on October 7, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Newton Nash, Sr. and Cora Lee Shuping Nash. Mrs. Boone was educated in the Kannapolis City Schools, being the Valedictorian of the J. W Cannon High School Class of 1941. She excelled academically at Pfeiffer University and was employed in the legal and banking areas during her career, retiring from Cannon Mills Company in the Stock Transfer Department. She was the last surviving charter member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church and was known with love for her card ministry. Mrs. Boone was a talented musician, serving as organist in her church for many years and as pianist for the Singing Saints. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Durant Nash and Samuel Newton Nash, Jr. Mrs. Boone is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy Daniel Boone, of the home, a daughter, Jo Boone Moore and husband, Kenneth, of Thomasville, NC, a son, Dan Boone and wife, Teena, of Concord, NC, four grandchildren, Brandon Moore and wife, Shannon, of Thomasville, NC, Keena Moore Teague and husband, David, of Apex, NC, Joshua Boone of Albany, NY, Graham Boone of Chapel Hill, NC, and twin great-grandsons, Philip Lauck Teague and Ethan Nash Teague, of Apex, NC. She is also survived by a sister, Alice Nash Blackwelder, of Charlotte NC, two sisters-in law, Mildred Lowder Nash of Kannapolis, NC, and Ruby Lee Boone Porter of Vaughn, NC, and a brother-in-law, Billy Tew Boone, of Rockingham, NC, and many nieces and nephews. The Boone family would like to thank the staff at CMC-Northeast and the Brian Center for their extraordinary and compassionate care given to Mrs. Boone during the last few weeks of her life. Visitation for Mrs. Boone will be held Saturday, February 20th at 1:30 p.m., with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m., at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis.
