Obituary: Daisy Smith Christy, age 94, of Kannapolis died Monday, January 4, 2016 at CMC-NE after a period of declining health. Her family will celebrate her life with a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Greg Sloop officiating. Private burial will follow. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to the funeral. Daisy was born January 31, 1921 in Adel, GA., a daughter of the late Plato and Rachel Minshew Smith, moving here with her family in 1926. She was a long-time member of Kannapolis Church of God and worked as a CPD Tech. at the former Cabarrus Memorial Hospital for 15 years retiring in 1994. In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Christy, in 1970 and also by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She was a loving mother of 5 daughters; Gladys C. Russell of Kannapolis, Betty C. Morrow of MT., Bobbie C. Posey of Anniston, AL., Dawn C. Dayvault of Charlotte, Pat C. Flaherty of Queensbury, NY and her sister, Eula Mae Wensil of Kannapolis. Daisy was proud of her 13 grandchildren and her 15 great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all.
