Daniel Wilson Johnson

Daniel Wilson Johnson, 76, of Kannapolis, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus with his family by his side.

Dan was born on March 22, 1949 in Iredell County, to the late Arthur Wilson Johnson and Mary Copley Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Lambert Johnson.

Dan worked at Pillowtex for 33 years and later retired from Freightliner in Cleveland. His favorite pastime was hunting and fishing with his sons, working in his yard, garden, feeding wild birds and photographing them.

Dan was a 1968 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Brandon “Shane” Johnson (Susan) and Eric Nathaniel Johnson (Ellen), Lachelle Roberts, Amber Belandria (Jose), Tony Burgess (Julie) and his precious dog, Zoey; grandchildren, Elijah Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, Katelyn Forrest (Mike), Chase Roberts, Chandler Burgess, Caydence Burgess, Ethan Belandria, Great-grandchildren, Jenna Forrest, Gabriel Forrest, Michael Forrest, and Tyler Roberts; sisters, Sheila Almond (Stephan), Gayle Price, Margaret Ritchie and Ernestine Edwards; and brother, Larry “Dale” Johnson (Becky); Dan was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on March 27, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis with Rev. Joel Ervin officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Whitley’s Funeral home.
