Daniel Dee Martin

Daniel Dee “Big D” Martin, 53, of Kannapolis; died unexpectedly Friday, May 14, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 19 at Landis Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Austin and Rev. Jim Grigg officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home.

Daniel was born December 19, 1967 in Cabarrus Co., the son of Buck Martin of Landis and Nikki Williams Harrington of Kannapolis. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by three sons, Isaac Martin, Elijah Martin, Aaron Gilbert and his daughter Elisabeth Martin

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mitzi Martin and Bridgett Parker. And late wife Lorrie Martin

Daniel was a life-long resident of Kannapolis. He was a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School where he wrestled, and played football. He was a Graduate of West Lenoir Baptist School of Ministry with an associate degree in Divinity. He enjoyed playing and coaching football and singing in the church choir.

He assisted with the Youth Ministries at Central Baptist Church and then Phaniels Baptist Church. He worked as a financial manager for a family business. He also was employed as an Insurance agent and assistant Field House manager for the Kannapolis Intimidators.
