Obituary: Daniel Reid "Tom" Overcash, 78, of Lake Norman area, formerly of Kannapolis died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born August 31, 1933 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Clark R. and Sadie Helms Overcash. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roland Overcash Jr.He retired from Cannon Mills Co. Plant 4 where he worked in the welding shop. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was an avid woodworker. He was a loving husband that loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren at the lake. They especially loved going on boat rides with him. He also loved having breakfast with his best friend, Larry every Friday for many years.Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at Midway United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Burt Williams and Rev. Mickey Moree. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 in the church fellowship hall. At other times , they will be at his sister's home, Mildred Davidson, 2211 Englewood Street, Kannapolis.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Keeter Overcash, sons Dell Pittmon (Cindy) of Concord and David Pittmon of Mooresville, 5 grandchildren, Skyler and Tanner Pittmon, Steve Swan, Andy and Kevin Pittmon, three sisters, Mildred Davidson of Kannapolis, Helen Dellinger of Cherryville and Barbara "Bobbie" Clark (Doug) of Kannapolis, sister-in-law Swansa Overcash of Kannapolis and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 108 Bethpage Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: 2:30 - 3:30 p.m., Sunday Dec. 18th at Midway United Methodist Ch.

Service: 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18th at Midway U. Meth. Ch.

Interment: Burial at Carolina Mem. Park.
