Obituary: Danny Julius Phillips, Sr., 65, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his home. Danny was born August 29, 1951 in Iredell County, a son of Julius Harrison Phillips and Marcell Menius Phillips. A loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, Danny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and loved his coffee. Family members include his loving wife, Linda Christy Phillips, who he married September 20, 1978; his sons Danny Julius Phillips, Jr. (Sherry) and Jeff Phillips (Fancie); daughters Melissa Auten (Stephen) and Dixie Phillips; 11 grandchildren; his brother Terry Phillips; a sister Nina Wayne (Delmar), and a number of nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held on Tuesday with burial at a later date.
