Danny Wayne James, 74, of Kannapolis passed away after a period of declining health at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
A funeral service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 12 at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hall and Pastor Brandon Bridges officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday starting at 12:30 until the service time.
Danny was born September 22, 1946 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Frank and Edna McNeil James. Danny was a lifelong area resident. He graduated A.L. Brown High School and received several degrees from RCCC. Danny was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. He was a member and head deacon at God’s Tabernacle in Kannapolis. Danny worked in facilities management for Verbatim Industries and then Target. He enjoyed going to the mountains and spending time with his grandchildren; singing silly songs and telling really bad jokes. Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brothers; Richard, Sonny and Jimmy James and his grandson, Austin Graham. Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Judy Ann Key James of the home, his son, Robert Cox (Paul), his daughter, Christina Graham (Mike), his grandchildren, Cody and Samantha Graham, his 4 sisters, Joyce Smith (Grady), Sylvia Childers, Elaine Bass, Jody Wingler (Buck) and brother, Ricky James (Becky) all of Kannapolis.
