Darrell Gibson

Obituary: Darrell Gibson, 70 of China Grove passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at CMC-NE following a period of declining health. Darrell was born on December 6, 1942 in Halifax County, a son of the late Robert Lee Gibson and the late Nettie Marion Pittman Whitley. Darrell was a heating and cooling technician for Moss and Moore Heating and Cooling for more than 30 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors and anyone else in need. Darrell's favorite pastime was tinkering in his work shop and enjoying his family. He previously had attended Lane Street Church of God. A service to celebrate Darrell's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Gaylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Wednesday prior to the services at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence. Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Judy Ruff (Gibson) of the home, a daughter; Tammy Smith and husband Dennis of Kannapolis, sons; Brian Gibson and wife Jennifer, James Kimball and wife Brandy both of Kannapolis, and Darrell Kimball of Rockwell, a brother; Dwight Whitley and wife Debra of Mobile, AL. 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
