Darthy Murph

Obituary: Darthy May Starnes Murph, 87, of Salisbury, formerly of Mooresville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Brightmoor Nursing Center, Salisbury following a period of declining health. Darthy was born March 27, 1930 in Rowan County, NC a daughter of the late Henry Lee Starnes and Ardella Overcash Starnes. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Darthy was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She was an active volunteer in the Canteen at the American Red Cross as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cultivating her flowers. Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters; Zelma (Donna) Burgin of Conover, Margaret (Paul) Buckner of Mooresville, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, five great- great grandchildren, and one brother, Henry Starnes of Mooresville. The family would like to send a special thanks to Darthy's great-granddaughter, Ashley, for the love and care shown to Mrs. Murph during her illness. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at Concordia Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Ken Reed and Rev. Dr. Larry Bost. The family will receive friends at the church Friday, 2:30-4:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of a daughter, Margaret Buckner. Interment will follow in Concordia Lutheran Church Cemetery.
