David Roscoe Archer

David Roscoe Archer, 87 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2024.  David was born on September 3, 1936, in Cattaraugus County, NY to Rosco and Ruth Dudley Archer.

David worked for IBM for 34 years before retiring in 1990.  After he retired from IBM, David went to work for Belk and then the Kannapolis City Schools in their cafeteria and custodial departments.  David loved to travel with his wife and family after his retirement. David is a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and past choir member.  He was known for his great sense of humor, and loved to make people laugh.  He also was a handyman who could fix anything and was willing to help anyone in need.

David was predeceased by his parents, Roscoe and Ruth Archer, and his sister, Doris Robertson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Ethel “Pinkie” Brewer Archer; his daughters, Kathi Archer, Pam Shellhammer and her husband Len, Robin Miles and her husband Jon, and Amy Archer; his son David Archer and his wife Kerie;  his grandchildren, Karen Snyder and her husband Dan, Derek Shellhammer and his wife Ginna, Nathan Miles and his wife Taylor, and Kristen Clayton and her husband Ansel, and Caleb, Joshua and Aiden Archer; and his eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 1-2pm at Memorial Baptist Church, Kannapolis with a memorial service to follow at 2pm. Interment of cremated remains will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
