David Martin Cavin

Obituary: David Martin Cavin, 81, of Concord, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Levine-Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, following a period of declining health. He was born December 14, 1930 in Rowan County a son of the late Charles and Florence Garver Cavin. David was a member of and faithfully attended Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved attending and being in services each time the doors were open; even up to the last eight months while confined to a wheelchair .He was also active with the Young At Hearts Group. He was a veteran of the US Air force serving during the Korean War as a Staff Sgt. and was a member of SAC. He had served numerous years as Post Commander of VFW 8989 where he was an active lifetime member. David retired from Southern Pump and Tank Company after working for 37 ½ years in inside sales. He loved to go to yard sales and spent time after retirement selling items at various flea markets. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf, as well as cooking for his family. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by Rev. Jimmy Barnhill. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence of Tom and Carla McGinty, 3847 Bent Creek Drive, Concord, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Alexander Cavin, a stepdaughter, Tanya DeAnn Bange, two brothers, Rusty and Houston Cavin. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 31 years, Ann Bange Cavin of the home, daughters, Julie Cavin Wagner of China Grove, and Carla (Tom) McGinty of Concord. Stepsons, Freddie Lee Holshouser of Charlotte, and Ronnie Bange of Kannapolis. Seven granchildren, Chris, Jon, Daniel and Zach Wagner, Brittany and Tiffany Lefler, and James Bange. One great grandchild, Hyatt Christopher Wagner, a sister, Madeline Bostian , and brother Bill Cavin, both of Landis.
