Obituary: David Alan Drought, 64, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 following a period of declining health. David was born June 27, 1953 and grew up in Northfield Vermont, a son of the late Eustice Drought and Arlette Ingalls Drought French. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Eric French and a brother, Ronald Drought. While in Vermont David worked for Grand Union in Montpelier and National Life of Vermont. In his spare time he was a freelance photographer for a local newspaper in Vermont where he covered racing and sporting events. He was also videographer for local government meetings. After moving to Concord, North Carolina, He was employed by Richard Petty Driving Experience and later retired in 2015 as a Custodial Services Manager with Cabarrus County School System. David was an avid and passionate fan of all types of racing. He was known for his keen sense of wit and humor, making friends with everyone he met; especially children. He had a special gift of bonding with children, they all considered him "Uncle Dave". He was the first to crack a joke and was loved by all. An informal Open House gathering for those who wish to celebrate David's life will be held at the home on Sunday, June 24, 2018 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Family members left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years; Rhonda Morin Drought of the home. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
