Obituary: David "Bud" Leon Fisher, Sr., 68, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center following a period of declining health. Bud was born August 22, 1945 in Cabarrus County a son of the late Jessie Jacob Fisher and the late Grace Edwards Fisher. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Fisher and two sisters, Ann Hawkins and Terry Keaton. Bud was an active member of Central Baptist Church, holding many positions throughout the years, as long as his health permitted. In early life he was employed as a Deputy with the Rowan County Sherriff's Dept. He later was employed by the State of North Carolina as Driver's License Examiner stationed at Cabarrus County. He retired due to ill health in 1991. Memorial services for Mr. Fisher will be 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 18, 2014 at Central Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Curtis Parker, pastor. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jeanie Goodnight Fisher of the home, two sons, Bud Fisher, Jr. of Matthews and Scott Fisher (Leisa) of China Grove, two daughters, Donna Coles (Steve) and Susan Varner (Rick) both of Kannapolis. Two sisters, Linda Cline (Gene) of China Grove and Gail Beck (Dean) of Landis. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jesse, Erica, Madison, Morgan, Kayla, Savannah, Colton, Bailey, Avery, and Dalton. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Ed and Linda Sloan Missionary Fund, c/o Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
