David Alexander Knight

Obituary: Charlotte- David Alexander Knight, 77, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at CMC-Main following a period of declining health. Born in Rowan County April 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Jes and Myrtle Ruth Yates Knight. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Carl and WL Knight; his sisters Clara Waller and Virginia Kopp. Mr. Knight had retired from Automotive Specialty and was a former member of the Queen City Model A Club. He enjoyed gardening and working with antique vehicles. Loving family members include his life partner of 38 years, Sarah Simmons, and her children Diane Garris (Ron) and Sam Garris (Chris); his son Allen Knight (Donna); step children Beverly Williams (Bob), and Tony Wilson (Teresa); 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm At Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
