David Lackey

Obituary: Mr. David Lackey, 74, of 602 Juniper Ave., Kannapolis, NC died August 29, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. Mr. Lackey was born on December 22, 1939 in Cabarrus Co., NC, the son of the late James Frank Lackey and the late, Emma Chapman Lackey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sons, David Lynn Lackey and Jeffrey Lane Lackey. Also by a brother, Carl "Shorty: Lack and two sisters, Rachel Isenhour and Mary Milem. David was a member of N. Kannapolis Baptist Church. He had previously worked for Martin Marietta as a truck operator. In recent years has worked for Ben Mynatt as an auto detailer. He had a passion for restoring vintage cars. Survivors include his wife, Linda C. Price Lackey of the home; 2 sons, Randy Lackey (Sara) of Kannapolis and Frankie Lackey of Charlotte; a step-son, Timothy Smith of Kannapolis; 7 grandchildren; a brother, Danny Lackey (Lisa); and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Lackey will take place at 3p.m., Tuesday, Sep. 3rd at N. Kannapolis Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris O'Guin. The family will receive friends from 2-3p.m., before the service at the church. Burial will take place at Carolina Mem. Park at a later date.
