David Wayne Lewis

Obituary: Myrtle Beach, SC- David Wayne Lewis, age 54, formerly of Kannapolis, NC had lived many years in the Myrtle Beach area. He died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC after several years of declining health. He was born March 15, 1955 in Landstuhl, Germany, the son of the late Floyd Hill Lewis and Lina Mozelle Manville Lewis. He was a 1973 graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Kannapolis, NC. In earlier years he was a business manager for two convenient stores and a ceramic business in the Myrtle Beach area. He developed a blindness condition, but partially regained some of his vision due to the grace of God. He was a devout Christian and shared his life with many people. He was also former president of the SC Chapter of the Federation of the Blind. A memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Second Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gary Scoggins. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Survivors include his three sisters, Sandra Jean Wilbanks of Salisbury, NC, Linda Faye Sides of New Castle, KY, and Barbara Eller Sloop of Bartow, FL; four nieces and four nephews; a number of great-nieces & great-nephews; and numerous aunts & uncles. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 807 Sweet Gum Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083 in memory of David. On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuner
