David “Lee” Nichols, 84 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 9, 2022. David was born on July 1, 1938 in Rowan County to the late David “Dick” and Edna Kirkman Nichols.
Lee loved his family, which was very important to him. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he liked to attend the senior citizen’s meetings. He retired from the Xerox Corporation after working there for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening and looking after his property, especially mowing his lawn, woodworking, doing crossword puzzles and food. Lee proudly served his country in the US Army Special Forces, he’s a true patriot that loved his country.
Lee was predeceased by his parents; his grandson, Nicholas Wayne Cook, and his sisters, Helen London and Judy King. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Carol Stewart Nichols; his sons, Michael David Nichols and David Scott Nichols and his wife Jennifer; his daughter, Kelly Cook and her husband Wayne; his grandchildren, Andrew Nichols and his wife Stefanie, Olivia, Mackenzie and Brandon Nichols, and his great granddaughters, Breighlee and Adella.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 12-1pm at Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis with a funeral service to follow at 1pm. Entombment with honors will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lee’s memory to either the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Gideons International.
