David Anthony “Tony” Overcash, 69, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Tony was born on June 18, 1952 in Rowan County to the late Harry Wilson Overcash and Pattie Coan Overcash.
Tony honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He went on to serve as a Deputy Sherriff for Cabarrus County with 30 years of service. His career was everything to him and he was truly passionate about being a Deputy Sherriff. He was a member of the Cabarrus County Law Enforcement Officer Association. He retired with honors as the only First Sergeant in Cabarrus County. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family. He also enjoyed the mountains. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Charity Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include beloved wife, Teresa Overcash; daughter, Laura (Jake) Williams; son, Drew (Alex) Overcash; step-son, Nick (Hannah) Bailey; six grandchildren, Devon Bailey, Bree Williams, Madison Williams, Skylar Bailey, Finnley Overcash, and Eleanor Overcash, and sister, Susan (Mary Boyles) Overcash.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Tony’s life will follow and begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Payton and Rev. R.J. Hammond officiating. Family and friends may visit at the home after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charity Baptist Church, 2420 Brantley Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
