Obituary: David Power Charlie David Power, 92 of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at his home. He was born February 11, 1922 in Madison County, Georgia, the son of the late Charlie Allen Power and Ethel Cooper Power. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris McDonald Power and his son, Darrell David Power. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked at Plant 1 in the Cloth Room. In the past, he enjoyed farming and he loved animals. He had many different animals, such as horses, donkeys, goats, dogs and cats in the past that he raised. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 31, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Allen Reid. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior at Whitley's. He is survived by two grandchildren, Davey Power (Teena) of Kannapolis and Jeff Power (Charlie) of Kannapolis, 5 great grandchildren, Kayla , Kendra, Erin, Matt and Abby, four sisters, Mickey Watts, Elizabeth Watkins, Betty Jo Troutman and Virginia Shuping. Memorials may be made to the Cabarrus Humane Society, Ruth's Memorial, 2010 Wilshire Court SW Concord, NC 28025. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
