David Melvin Raffaldt

Obituary: David Melvin Raffaldt, 63, of Kannapolis died Monday Jan. 11, 2010 at his home. He was born March 10, 1946 in Lancaster, SC., the son of the late Gus and Esther Moree Raffaldt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Therrell Raffaldt on March 28, 2007. He was retired owner of Ms. Sybil Seeding Company in Kannapolis. He was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church. He loved spending time with his family and going to auctions with his son-in-law. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday (Jan. 13, 2010) at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Joe Harding and Rev. Ron Rider. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 Wednesday prior to the service. He is survived by his daughter, Shana R. Smith and husband Stephan, of Kannapolis, his grand - daughter Samantha D. Smith, three brothers: James Raffaldt of Concord, Donnie Raffaldt of China Grove and Dwight Raffaldt of Kannapolis. He is also survived by Junior and Sylvia Overcash, who were like lifelong brother and sister to him. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 52 Kannapolis, NC 28082.
