David Cecil Upright

Obituary: David Cecil Upright, 62, of China Grove went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from CHS-University after a period of declining health. His family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 2 at Thyatira Presbyterian Church in Salisbury with Rev. Stacy Steck officiating. Interment of cremains will follow in the church cemetery. David was born October 31, 1954 in China Grove, a son of the late Cecil and Lida Silliman Upright. He worked for 31 years at Performance Fibers, retiring as utilities supervisor in 2009. David enjoyed golfing and going to Carolina Chapel Hill Football games, and we now know he has the best seat in the house. His family and friends will fondly remember him as a die-hard Carolina fan, and a lovingly devoted husband, father and grandfather. Most of all he loved spending time with his 4 year old grandson, Maddox. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Upright. David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Roberts Upright of the home, his daughter, Amanda "Mandi" Upright of China Grove and his grandson, Maddox David Early.
