Obituary: Dawn Scott Elwood, 59, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her home. She was born August 5, 1957 in Butler County, Pa., the daughter of Joyce Scott Ritchie and the late Robert Winfield Scott. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Wallace Ritchie, brother , Tim Scott and sister, Gina Hamilton. Dawn retired from teaching at Northwest Middle School after 30 years. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was very active in various church activities and committees, such as choir member, former Sunday school Director, former Bible School Director and member of Ladies Ensemble. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2016 at Parkwood Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Michael Waters and Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior at church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronnie Elwood, children, Jamie Elwood, Kimberly Russell (Vernon), grandchildren, Zachary Rice, Shaley Elwood, Dallas Russell, brothers, Danny Scott (Debbie) and Bryan Ritchie (Mandy), sisters, Michelle Carothers (Mike) and Leigh Ann Towell (Rick) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
