Obituary: Mr. Dean Allen Staley, 70, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 after an extended illness. He was born February 28, 1946 in Iredell County to the late Clyde Wilson Staley and the late Julia Mills Staley. He was preceded in death by his brothers Steven Staley and Larry Staley. Dean was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church and worked as an Electrical Project Manager on numerous construction projects. He was a veteran of United States Navy. Dean was avid about fishing and loved living near the lake, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Linda Stirewalt Staley and daughter Kristen Smith of Lexington, N.C. His sister Brenda Staley Speck and Harry Greene of Kannapolis, N.C., his sister-in-law Anita Beaver Staley of Kannapolis, a nephew Allen Staley of Kannapolis and niece Kim Staley of China Grove. A great nephew Donovan Staley and great niece Leah Barringer and husband William of Faith. Three great-great nieces Chloe, McKenzie, Kassidy. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, N.C.
