Debra Long

Obituary: Debra (Debbie) E., age 61, of Concord, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 25, 2013. Debbie was born in Cabarrus County, NC on November 26, 1951. She was the daughter of the late John Earl Deaton and Bernice Donahue Deaton. In addition to her parents are one brother, Earl Bernard Deaton who lived in Toney, AL; a niece, Ada Darlene Deaton who lived in Atlanta, GA; and her in-laws, Willie B. Long and Edith N. Long. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary L. Long of 18 years of wonderful marriage; two daughters, Lisa Pope and husband, Johnny Pope and Tricia Dixon, both of Kannapolis, NC; a sister, Johnsie Farmer & husband, Dewey of Kannapolis, NC; two brothers, Ronald Deaton and friend, Edith Furr and Wayne Deaton and wife, June, both of Kannapolis, NC; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews; and MawMaw Debbie's nursery babies at Genesis Baptist Church. Debbie was employed for the past ten years with the Concord Police Department in the records department where she had made many friendships over the years. Her family fondly remembers Debbie as a person who loved life and was a "social butterfly." Debbie was a member of Genesis Baptist Church, China Grove, NC where the service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 29, 2013 officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Genesis Baptist Church, 9710 Old Concord Road, China Grove, NC 28023.

Service: 2:00PM, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Genesis Baptist Church.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
