Delbert Ray Bostian

Delbert Ray Bostian, 70, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus due to complications of the Covid 19 Virus.

A funeral service to celebrate Delbert’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 20 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 1:00 PM Friday.

Delbert was born November 23, 1950 in Rowan Co. He was the youngest of nine children born to Mitchell D. and Dorothy Leazer Bostian. In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Venus Bostian, three of his brothers; Robert, Charles and Jack Bostian and a sister, Helen Brown.

A life-long area resident, Delbert learned at an early age the value of hard work. He farmed, raised cattle and enjoyed gardening. He was self-employed as an excavator and septic field installer, retiring in 2014. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved to sing and play his guitar. Delbert was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to the beach and the mountains with his family. Delbert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon Tidwell Bostian of the home, his 2 sons; Tracy Ray Bostian (Wendy) and Adam Eugene Bostian, both of Kannapolis, his five grandchildren; Casey, Ciara, Cole, Amber and Leland, his two great-grandsons, Sebastian and Maverick as well as two brothers Grady Bostian (Peggy) of Mooresville, Clyde Bostian (Frances) of Kannapolis, two sisters, Mary Nell McCarns (Charles) of Mooresville, Salee Thompson of Kannapolis and a host of nieces and nephews.
