Delia “Dee” Pauline (Belanger) Alexander, 78, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus surrounded by her family. She was born June 16, 1945, in South Carolina, to the late Paul and Ruby (Carter) Belanger.
A devoted matriarch, Dee was the heart of her family. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Dee loved to cook and bake. She is best known for oatmeal cookies. She is also known to many as Mama Dee and the Cookie Lady.
Those left to cherish her memories include her loving husband of 52 years, Gene; her children, Tami Hartley, Terri (Jeff) Sechler and Brian Alexander, daughter in law Sandee Alexander; her grandchildren, Hack Hargett, Alexis Alexander, Angie Kozyra and Lauren Naylor; her great grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden, Rex, Paxton, and Callie; her sister, Anita Gray; her lifelong friend, Hilda Burr; her grand pets, Silverado, Miller, Zoey and Cash; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Paul Belanger and Gary Sheppard. Grand pet, Tahoe.
The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM with the funeral service immediately following at 1:30 PM with Pastor Curtis Parker officiating. Burial to follow in West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
