Obituary: Delmis "Del" Voughn Thomas, 66, of China Grove died unexpectedly Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home. A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Thomas' life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 19 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. James Pauley officiating. A time fellowship with the family will be held at the church's family life center after the memorial service. Born October 1, 1952 in Johnstown, PA; Del was a son of the late Howard and Vivian Crum Thomas. He was a veteran of the US Army and also served in the Army Reserves and National Guard. He worked as a welder for Chote Construction and had recently retired. Del was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and shopping at Walmart. He was the family repairman, always helping others with their cars or home repairs. He loved his "grand-babies". He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Delmis was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Thomas. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Worthington (Angel) and his daughter, Vivian Thomas, both of Kannapolis and his daughter, Amber Gill of Concord. His grandchildren are A.J., Eric, Chad and Kelsey Gill, Christopher Neal, Kingston Brown and Marissa Worthington. He is also survived by his brother Darren Thomas and several nieces and nephews.
