Denford Harold Oxendine, Sr., 88, of Kannapolis passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was born November 25, 1933 in Robeson County, a son of the late Lonnie Hayes Oxendine and Minerva Elizabeth Howington Oxendine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bess Oxendine on September 16, 2021.
Denford was a pharmacist at various pharmacies in the area for many years, retiring from China Grove Drug Co. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Kannapolis for many years and filled several roles as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Denford graduated from Mars Hill College and the Medical College of South Carolina. Denford loved spending time with his family, fishing, cooking, traveling and carpentry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 7, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Tom Cabaniss and Norman Brisson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Whitley’s.
Denford is survived by his son, Denny Oxendine, Jr., daughter, Laura Oxendine McFaddin (Matt), grandchildren, Daniel McFaddin (Madelyn), Hannah McFaddin, great grandchild, Alana McFaddin, brother, George Oxendine and sister, Deola Oxendine Taylor and many beloved nieces and nephews.
