Obituary: Dennis Rufus Ray, 69, passed away Friday May 17, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Ray was born August 28, 1943 in Richmond County to the late Rufus Ray and Minnie Kirkley Williams. Dennis worked for many years in the electrical field; was in the National Guard; and Concord Police Auxiliary. He enjoyed working in his garage tinkering with old trucks and spending time with his children and granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Ann Stowe Isenhour Ray of the home; two sons, Brian Isenhour and his wife, Sherry of Concord, and Shawn C. Ray of the home; a daughter, Michelle R. Ray of Kannapolis; and a granddaughter, Zamoya Ray of Kannapolis; a brother, Wayne Ray and his wife, Carolyn of China Grove; and two sisters, Kay Wilson and her husband Tommy of Cordova and Cynthia E. Williams of Kannapolis. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Etheridge "Bozo" Williams; brothers, Curtis Eugene (Gene) Ray and Leslie Williams; and a son Brian Todd Ray. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Poplar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Barrett and Rev. Billy Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home.
